Textured ceilings installed before 1978 may contain asbestos fibres, which were commonly used as a binding agent in the era’s spray texture products. Homes built between 1978 and 1981 also used some products that contained asbestos. Before any removal in a home built prior to 1981, we recommend testing by a certified inspector.
