WOW 1 Day Painting -Paint trends 2025 - Warm Pink and Sage Walls

It’s that time of year where every designer and paint company is telling us what home paint colors are going to be trending in 2025. Spoiler alert: this year promises to be one of the most colorful years on record.

It can feel intimidating to see these bold, bright color palettes. Let us show you how to take these designer recommendations and apply them beautifully to your home.

What are the latest trends in interior paint colors for 2025?

Designers are divided on what paint trends will dominate this year. After decades of minimalist neutrals ruling the scene, the pendulum has swung into color. And in some cases, lots of colors.

We couldn’t be happier to see the world embracing technicolor. We believe that when you choose a color for a room, you choose a mood. But it’s not as simple as throwing any old shade on the wall, you need to consider how you'll feel living in that color every day.

What is the most popular interior paint color?

Based on what the experts are predicting, blue and red shades are set to be the most popular interior paint colors for 2025. Deep royal blues like Commodore (SW 6524) offer a fresh, nautical feel. On the softer end of the blue spectrum, Quietude (SW 6212) is a lovely robin’s egg that reminds us of the Claridge’s Hotel in London with its elegance and whimsy.

Wine tones are also having a big moment right now. Dramatic reds called Fine Wine (SW 6307) with its brown undertones or Mature Grape (SW 6286) with its moody eggplant tones. Lots of homeowners like to incorporate natural wood or knit elements like blankets or macrame into their spaces, both of which pair beautifully (pun-intended) with these wine tones.

Among the neutrals, various brown tones like chocolate brown, terra cotta, and warm grays are predicted to be on-trend, according to brands like Benjamin Moore and Dunn-Edwards.

So, if you want to future-proof your home renovation project, consider a statement blue or red, a cozy earth tone, or a mature wine tone with your interior paint palette in 2025.

Exterior paint trends 2025

Crisp whites continue to be the most popular siding color. Gray is still a favorite for garage doors, and exterior accent trim, especially in two-tone exterior house color schemes. In 2025 though, designers are predicting that gray will go darker and moodier than before with shades of charcoal and deep bronze.

With the trend of showing more personality in your home’s paint colors, homeowners are opting for colorful door colors like Red Barn (SW 7591), soft oranges like Baked Clay (SW 6340), or spring greens like Pickle (SW 6725).

Is gray going out of style in 2025?

While gray remains an extremely popular neutral for interiors, some designers think colorful paint trends may cause it to decline slightly in 2025. Gray's dominance may fade as more homeowners embrace bolder hues in their living spaces.

However, gray isn't going completely out of style. For exteriors like accents, trim work and garage doors, gray will remain popular thanks to its versatility. Medium and dark charcoal shades continue to trend in home offices, libraries and dining rooms that need a serious backdrop color.

Are white walls back in style for 2025?

White walls are a timeless classic that will never truly go out of style.

While brighter, deeper colors trend, white provides a neutral backdrop that can complement any style. According to Sherwin-Williams, their "White Snow" remains a top seller and will stay relevant through 2025.

Like gray, white may see a slight decline in popularity as bold colors emerge. But it will still dominate kitchens and bathrooms, where the fresh, airy look of an all-white suite or kitchen remains chic. And white exteriors like board and batten will continue to appear on trend lists.

Another place where neutrals and whites are making a stronger appearance than before is in the accents. Choosing the right neutrals for furniture, artwork and fixtures is especially important for those embracing these big, bold color schemes.

What color is replacing white? “Barely there” neutrals, white's understudy

While white isn't going away, designers predict it may lose some of its throne to softer “barely there” neutrals like pale pink and blush tones. These hues provide the same fresh canvas as white without feeling clinical. Shades like Sand Trap (SW 6066) are a cozy pinkish beige that can replace neutrals like white.

Are accent walls outdated in 2025?

With all these fun bright colors coming back, accent walls are also making a comeback. Often, a bold accent wall is enough to shift the mood of the room and make an impact without making the room feel overcrowded.

One way we’re seeing people pair accent colors is with analogous color schemes — pairing a bold rich red with an off-white or taupe with similar undertones.

Another trend we hope to see more of is multiple accent walls and elements. Sherwin-Williams Paradox palette exemplifies these new multicolored schemes. Think yellow accent walls with blue accent shelves, patterned wallpaper and red and green knick-knacks.

The accent wall itself isn't outdated, but it may evolve into bolder concepts that go beyond one lonely bright stripe.
