The holiday season is here and we're definitely feeling festive. Tis the season for spending time with friends and family. (Which may or may not include a glass of wine or two.) These social gatherings filled with lively conversations have inspired our choice for December's Color of the Month: Merlot!

The holidays always make us think of rich, deep colors that feel warm and inviting. That's just what merlot is. it's a little deeper than a traditional holiday red, with a purple undertone that makes it feel much cozier. it's perfect as an accent wall in any room where you want to create some drama. it's a bit heavy for allover wall color, but it's a look that can work in a dining room or formal living room.

Despite its dramatic appearance, merlot is a pretty versatile color and pairs well with all different shades. To keep things on the darker side, try it with charcoal or dark gray and a more purple toned taupe. It can also work well with reddish brown and other warm neutrals.
